Former Blazers player Jerome Kersey dies at 52

Jerome Kersey, a 17-year NBA veteran who played in two NBA Finals with the Portland Trail Blazers, died Wednesday, two people close to him told CBSSports.com. He was 52.
Kersey played 11 seasons for the Trail Blazers before spending time with the Warriors, Lakers, SuperSonics, Spurs and Bucks. He was a member of San Antonio's 1999 NBA championship team.

Earlier this week Kersey underwent a knee surgery. He reportedly told fellow Trail Blazer employees at the team’s Rose Quarter office that he wasn’t feeling well and was going home. He apparently collapsed on the way to his car. Cause of death is unknown.

Cocaine use can also increase the risk of stroke. When combined with a recent surgical procedure, the risk is even higher. It is cocaine use that contributed to the stroke and death of Whitney Houston.
