Because it is not obvious enough that we are all treated equally already.

"Equal rights" is code for "special rights."

What a bunch of stupid claptrap. It's also a perfect example of business as usual: Democrats being demagogues instead of leaders.

Virginia is still deciding whether to ratify the ERA.

Virginia decided that a long time ago. Stupid people acting stupidly does not change that fact.

Liberals want to make women equal when women can’t do half the heavy jobs men can do well.

When they can do it, we can discuss the so-called ERA again.

These misguided ERA proponents never give up! Last year the Illinois Senate ratified ERA and it died sine die for the FOURTEENTH TIME in the Illinois House.

Hopefully Virginia will understood the far reaching consequences of the ERA. The ERA would override current state law giving Congress jurisdiction over areas formerly reserved as state’s rights.

The proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states, “Equality of rights shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

* The ERA will remove all legal distinctions between sexes. All federal, state and local laws, policies and regulations favoring either males or females would be unconstitutional under ERA.

* The ERA would force states to pay for abortion on demand and would stop efforts to pass parental notification or consent laws.

* If the military draft is reinstated, the ERA would force women to be drafted on an equal basis with men and would force them to serve on submarines and as ground infantry.

* Under ERA all discriminations based on sex/gender would be unconstitutional.

* High school and college sports would be forced to have unisex teams.

* All male/female educational institutions would likely lose their tax-exempt status, because ERA mandates no distinction between genders.

* The ERA would remove all legal distinction between sexes. Men and women would be treated identical in value as well as in nature.

* The ERA would also integrate same-sex and bi-sexual attraction into the U.S. Constitution.

The ERA could very well affect almost every area of life including Social Security, health insurance benefits, Medicare benefits, and pro-life issues.

Ratifying ERA would mandate artificial gender neutrality and would open a Pandora’s box, thus jeopardizing the true equal protection of the existing 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Why is the Virginia legislature wasting its time with this? The amendment had a specific deadline for ratification, which occurred 30 years ago. Any vote on ratification at this point is meaningless. So this is nothing more than mental masturbation by the loony left.
