Classical French Actor Louis Jourdan Has Died at 93
Louis Jourdan, a French actor famous for American film and television appearances in the Oscar-winning musical GIGI, MADAME BOVARY, CAN-CAN, and THE FIRST OLYMPICS: ATHENS, 1896, as well as Broadway appearances in shows such as ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER, has died. The Hollywood Walk of Fame winner was 93.
Jourdan was ordered to make German propaganda films which he refused to do and fled to join his family in unoccupied France. There he started making movies again, ten films in two years. His father was arrested by the Gestapo; months later he escaped, and joined the French underground. "I was given work to do and I did it", said Jourdan later of his time in the resistance. "I worked on illegal leaflets, helping to print and distribute them." After the liberation of France in 1945, he returned to Paris with his childhood sweetheart, Berte Frederique
Cited by author James McKay as the "epitome of the suave Continental", Jourdan was spotted in a French film by a talent scout working for David O. Selznick, who offered the actor a contract.
He retired and lived, at least part-time, in the Greater Los Angeles Area. In July 2010, Jourdan was made an Officier de la Legion d'honneur, which he received, accompanied by friends, including Sidney Poitier and Kirk Douglas.
He died at his home in Beverly Hills on February 14, 2015 at the age of 93.
Louis Jourdan has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6153 and 6445 Hollywood Boulevard.

“Spend the money quickly, Mr. Bond.”
Very sad news.
He was pretty good as “Count Dracula” (1977) which is on Youtube.
Lordy,he was good looking.
.
He’s rejoined his bride of 68 years, Berthe Frédérique “Quique” Jourdan, who died last year.
I loved him in The Swan with Grace Kelly. So handsome. RIP Louis and thanks for the memories.
Class is exiting the world......I will miss it. RIP, Mr Jourdan.

Wasn't he though? Easily the most handsome man Hollywood has ever produced, (with maybe Robert Taylor coming in a distant second) and he was indeed 'the epitome of the suave Continental'
They just don't make them like that any more.
RIP Louis.
RIP, Mr Jourdan.
Too bad about his son.
Regards,
So WHO do we consider the handsomest man in Hollywood, from the 20s to today? And none of those girly-men so popular today, please.

Goodness Yes! RIP.
Elegance personified. I wonder if he ever did any work with Catherine Denuve? But she may have been a generation removed from his time in the limelight.

Talking about sheer male perfection,
easily Louis Jourdan was the most handsome actor Hollywood EVER produced:

Robert Taylor comes in a distant second.
He was excellent and memorable in every role I saw him in.
RIP
I searched but couldn't find where they had ever worked together. They are about 20 years apart in age.
Surely two of the biggest French stars must have worked together, even though he was about 20 years her senior. (That age difference never stopped Cary Grant, Gary Cooper and numerous others)
What about Paul Newman?
