Joe Bastardi ping.
Just as an aside, I’ve been distracted lately because it turns out my cat, Valentine, tested “positive for cancer, but it’s inconclusive.” I’m in the bargaining stage.
I got her 11 years ago yesterday from a lady who was standing in front of WalMart with two calico kittens. It was a Friday, but I didn’t want to name her “Friday the 13th,” so I named her Valentine.
I hope your cat will be okay, I had a stray I picked up after weeks and weeks of coaxing for 18 years before I had to put her to rest, oh and when I finally got her home she turned into eight cats, what a surprise!
That cold is going to be centered on the Great Lakes. Right now the total ice coverage of the lakes is 60.5% That number should jump considerably over the next two weeks.

I’m hoping it’ll break the 92.5% coverage of last year and beat the all time 1979 record of 94.7%.
Sorry about your kitty! :-(
We have an old lady (21) that got a tumor on her arm - cancer & inoperable. But she’s lived with it for four years now, amazingly. It doesn’t seem to bother her. At least not as much as the arthritis in her hips & back. We always keep her warm, which she appreciates.
Joe’s Twitter feed reads like a list of FR topics.
Love it!
He retweets a lot of really interesting stuff.
Thank you. The vet says it’s my fault because I didn’t spay her early enough. So now I have guilt.
Joe...JOE! Lasting into APRIL?!
I’m crying ice cubes!
Here outside of Boston we got the latest Blizzard of the week ramping up outside as i type.
Already got like 4 or 5 feet outside, mountains are so high my 30 year old Toro can’t blow it any higher.
My back is throbbing just thinking about it, and to think just 3 weeks ago i was starting to believe that maybe we might just have a snow blower free winter for once....silly me.
I guess the inhabitants of Boston never had snow back in the old days. I can just imagine the balmy winters of 1621, 1773, and the American Revolution when the inhabitants were complaining about the winter heat waves while walking around in their Bermuda shorts.
And now Drudge warns of “A winter snow hurricane” is to hit Boston.
Of course I’m posting from currently snow free but very fridge Wash, DC. But I grew up in the mid-west with its months of snow and cold.
Mowowie,
My post is directed toward the weather scare mongers on tv rather than a long term endure as yourself.
How is this winter stacking up against past ones?

“I can just imagine the balmy winters of 1621, 1773——”

The sarcasm is not necessary.
The population density is a tad different these days. The current density plus old, narrow streets creates problems with heavy snow.
.
There is a LOT of snow out there, more than i have ever seen at one time since perhaps 1978.
I’m around 10 miles or so southwest of downtown Boston.
What's the difference between a "winter snow hurricane" and a Nor'easter? Point of origin?
I remember the Winter of ‘79 fondly. Killed off all the dang tent caterpillars for over a score of years.
