I know Cranston is most likely your typical progressive actor, but I wouldn’t attack someone for a role they play.
I’m SURE he isn’t a Meth cook either. lol

Yup . Lots of American communists were in bed with hitler (he was after all a national SOCIALIST), while uncle Joe had that nonaggression pact with Germany. Once operation Barbarossa started and Hitler attacked The Soviets.... American marxists changed their tune about being pacifists and wanted Hitlers blood.
Funny how that works?

Why’s Ann upset with Cranston for an acting role, hell she cozies up to lot’s of actors pretending to be Conservatives.

“Johnny Got His Gun’
That book actually had a happy ending. The limbless Canadian soldier learned to play baseball after he was released from the hospital.
And his American hosts graciously allowed him play home plate.
Speaking of gladiator movies ..... didja know Trumbo wrote the screenplay for `Spartacus’.
Man, he really managed to wrap that one completely around the axle! Huh?
Remember that scene when the gladiators are finally caught (stealing chickens), they’re all sitting on a hill feeling glum and the Romans want to know, Hey, hey!—Who in the heck is this Spartacus fella?
Right? Remember?
Well, then everyone and his brother is standing up and taking turns saying “I’m Spartacus!”.
When we all know that Spartacus is the guy with all the muscles and the hole in his chin. I’m surprised they didn’t catch that boo boo.

Dalton Trumbo was a jerk, but a lot of the country opposed getting involved. Two men who went on to become president for starters.

You guys making excuses for this as “just a role” don’t get it.
It’s a hagiography of a hardcore communist.
Actors at his level choose which roles they take and the implications of the production.

Like thousands of college students in the 70s, I was forced to read “Johnny Got His Gun.” I remember very little of it except that it read like a dull version of Upton Sinclair, and was so transparently propagandist that it became almost comic.

Wow, according to Ann this guy must have been Superman. He singlehandedly kept the United States of America out of World
War 2 until Dec 7, 1941. Historians of the period have been looking in the wrong place for the answers. They have wasted their time pouring over the archives of the President, State Department, War Department, Congress, etc looking for why we did not enter the war earlier. The answer was some novelist and screenwriter in Hollywood. What power he must of welded as he kept the entire government in his grasp. His power of hypnotizing kept the American people docile. It was Trumbo’s amazing power. Roosevelt, Schmosevelt, the hidden hand was in Hollywood. The truth I guess is just too hard to understand for Ann. That is the American people remembered the 100,000 dead we suffered in one year in 1918 for virtually nothing. Imagine that, 100,000 dead in one year, and the Kaiser did not kill 3,000 people in NYC. Today we throw in the towel over 7,000 in 14 years, and today's enemy did kill 3,000 in NYC. It is real easy after reading all the books written after the fact to criticize those making decisions at the time. People forget, we were not the all powerful superpower we are today at the time. Our military I believe was smaller than Romania's in 1939-41. I believe that the American people did the best they could with the limited information they had, we did not even have an intelligence agency.
