An independent San Francisco bookstore says it will be closing its doors by March 31, despite having its best year ever in 2014. And its pointing at San Franciscos newly enacted minimum wage law as the reason.

More people being freed from the shackles of a job to do what they really want.
This is really sad.
I was in our local bookstore last night, almost dissolved in tears at how very few books were on the shelves .videos, games, all kinds of junk, but very very few books. So to see a bookstore doing well is wonderful. To drive it out of business how will the SF lefties explain that?
No doubt, they’ll explain it in 140 characters on twitter. Idiots.
The usual way - by finding out what the party line is and repeating it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - liberals find the conservative obsession with having a particular point of view on a particular subject not only insane, but flat-out stupid. To liberals, group obedience is the only subject in their lives. Period. They like what they are supposed to like, and they hate what they are supposed to hate. Any other way of living their lives, to them, is merely stupidity.
If Leftists decided tommorrow that liberals should be pro-gun, Congress would be hit with demands for the elimination of all gun restrictions the following day. There would be liberals marching in the streets for it, and Oprah would have weeping liberals talking about how gun crime would be eliminated if just, Dear God, we could protect ourselves as the Founders knew we should in the first place.
And then, the following week, if the Leftists reversed themselves, these same liberals would demand gun owners to be put into concerntration camps.
I'm not done - I haven't made my point yet. My point is: that to liberals, this is not hypocrisy. It's simply obeying orders from your commander int he war of social engineering, by which you will be taken care of by the Nanny State for the rest of your life, and therefore it is literally your duty.
They don't care about the issues. They care about obedience. REALLY caring about issues, to them, is stupid. PRETENDING to care about issues, to them, is orders.
Well, that’s it then. San Fran needs to pass a law making it illegal for businesses to close up shop!
Ping.
These morons must think that if you sell a book for $10.00 the whole $10.00 is profit
That’s too bad.
I’ve done business with them I the past.
And, being iconoclasts, leftists positions are dictated by what traditionalists believe - determine what traditionalists/conservatives believe and assume the opposite point of view.
A real shame. Borderlands was a real gem
Not me, I lay off a few workers to make up the difference, post signs telling my customers why, and continue in business under new standards...
If they were very popular, could they move outside the city limits?
I was hoping it was that anarchist bookstore on Haight.
taking a pause for the cause.
They should hire some illegal aliens.
Although all of us at Borderlands support the concept of a living wage in principal and we believe that it’s possible that the new law will be good for San Francisco — Borderlands Books as it exists is not a financially viable business if subject to that minimum wage.
The owner still hasn’t re-thunk his leftist leanings. Some folks just never learn.
But...but...but...everybody knows that minimum wage hikes don’t kill any jobs.
"In Principal?"
Minimum wage bookstores are a positive thing if they make books on "English spelling and grammar" more widely available.
Minimum wage or not!
