One in three, or 35.2 percent, of people getting federal disability insurance benefits have been diagnosed with a mental disorder, according to the latest data from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Washington, D.C., the seat of the federal government, ranked in the top-ten list of states where disabled beneficiaries were diagnosed with mental problems.

In 2013, the latest data from SSA show there were 10,228,364 disabled beneficiaries, up 139,625 from 2012 when there were 10,088,739 disabled beneficiaries.

Disabled beneficiaries have increased 49.7 percent from a decade ago in 2003 when there were 6,830,714 beneficiaries; and the number is up 14.3 percent from the 8,945,376 beneficiaries in 2009, the year President Obama took office.

"We want you to get a job."
"I don't have to."
"Yes. Actually, you do."
"Nawwww. I can just stay home and a big bird will come to my house and deliver all the stuff that I need. I'll be fine."
"That's crazy."
"No, man, it's gonna happen."
"Alright, listen: you obviously have mental problems. Here's what I'm going to do: I'll have a check sent to your house on a regular basis. It should provide you with enough money to get you all the stuff you need. Does that sound alright?"
"Sounds cool, man."

SSI: The New Welfare, Exempt From “Trigger” Cuts

SSI is known as “crazy money” since one must “act crazy” to receive it. Oftentimes several people in the same household, adults and children, collect SSI checks. Easy-to-fake learning, behavioral, and mental disorders are the most common “disabilities,” especially among children, who comprise 55 percent of all cases. More than half who go on SSI as a child, requalify as adults. SSI recipients are not required to get treatment for their or their children's disabilities. No requalification can be good since it can be harmful for kids to take drugs for fake or exaggerated symptoms. The SSI program for children is rapidly expanding, with the biggest increase among kids with mental, behavioral and learning disorders, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), speech delays, autism and bipolar disorder.

A childhood pal who should’ve graduated in my high school class dropped out in the 8th grade. He got a job with a construction company and stepped off his dozer one day and hurt his back. That was sometime around 1964. He's been on the dole ever since.
He married and had a couple of daughters. They're on relief, too, along with their kids...

This is the scam to allow welfare recipients to pad their welfare income from another slop bucket of money out of the Social Security system.

They call it “crazy money” in the hood because all you have to d is act crazy to qualify for it.

The crazy money scam is draining money from the Social Security disability fund to the extent that people for whom the disability programs were originally set up to protect i.e. people with actual true disabilities such a cerebral palsy, blindness, paralysis, serious on the job injury, ect are being kicked to the curb and frozen out of the SS disability system by the aggressive leeches faking mental disability

Yes, and their mental disability is that they are allergic to work.

Well, I can’t argue with the numbers for D.C.
But why are we paying them Senator and Representative pay too?

I went to the local SSA office to change my address. It’s a small office with a small waiting room. There was only one person other than I that was of retirement age. All the others crammed into that small area were 20-something slackers messing with their smart phones. Possibly their “disability” was carpel thumble syndrome.

I knew two sober alcoholics who were on SSI-————because they were alcoholics. I kid you not.

They were attending a community college and seemed okay to me.

For a short time, I taught a Healthy Living class for Community Health, which included some info about how to get your life on track. Interesting and appalling how much resistance that created in some of the students.

One fellow in particular, maybe 25 - 30, hard to tell because he was so fat, said he spent all his time sitting in a lounger chair playing video games. I detected signs of intelligence, gave him some encouragement to lose some weight, apply for work.

OH boy, he scurried back into his "I can't do anything" shell quick as a cockroach. Either he had been told he was an idiot from birth and believed it OR he was told to ACT LIKE an idiot to keep those bennies coming.

What a horrible waste of a life.

Just like how liberal "doctors" were writing sick notes on street corners for protesting Wisconsin teachers, I'm sure that liberal doctors are similarly writing mental health notes for Obama's unemployed who ran out of unemployment insurance.

Another meaningless fake statistic, I'm guessing.

I bet his government keepers DO make it very hard for him to break away. They could easily make him believe he would fail . . . THEIR jobs depend on it!

It’s a real racket now. They know how to play the system. In the town I lived in before, came across a few who were getting “mental” disability checks. All were much younger than I am, healthy and strong, physically would be able to work and would be just fine if they would quit smoking so much pot. One of them even did meth when she had the extra cash. In their sober state, not a thing wrong with them, normal and sane as anyone else.

Opened my eyes to the “disability” game. Shame. No telling how many times this plays out across the U.S. Seems like it has affected an entire generation...and now their kids also.
