I have a Nephew who has a PHD in both Cosmology and Physics from the University of Chicago. He and 3 of his classmates were down for a wedding and I remember them commenting that Hawking is not that highly thought of in the physics community.

Just an ordinary genius, not a super genius.

I had heard that as well. I don’t know why Stephen Hawking frequently shows up on lists of top 10 highest IQs. There are plenty of people with higher IQs that don’t make those lists, like James Woods, Benjamin Netanyahu, Garry Kasparov, and Marilyn Vos Savant.
