I think it has to do with back in the 40s, 50s, 60s, there was an actual block of ice in your fridge. And you or your neighbors had chickens/eggs. So without electricity, you could make mass french-toast with the milk in your icebox which hadn’t melted yet. I think Hurricanes were the main cause of power outage when this menu was decided.

And it just stuck.

French toast = cinnamon and maple syrup. Cinnamon has been used since Egyptian times to treat cough/colds, sore throats and infection; to mitigate effects of a high-fat diet(survival diets) and smooth out blood sugar. Maple syrup boosts the immune system by providing trace minerals (iron, zinc, etc). And being composed of sucrose, it's easy to digest. French toast supercharges the immune system in an irresistibly delicious way.
