NFL bears plenty of blame for #DeflateGate

But what has the NFL really found? As one league source has explained it to PFT, the football intercepted by Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson was roughly two pounds under the 12.5 PSI minimum. The other 10 balls that reportedly were two pounds under may have been, as the source explained it, closer to one pound below 12.5 PSI.

NFL effort to ensure a Seathug victory is unraveling

Complicating matters for the NFL is that the bat initially was swung by Mike Kensil, a former employee of the Jets with a reputation among the Patriots for being an agitator. (Kensil’s father, Jim, served as president of the Jets for 10 years from the late 1970s to the late 1980s.) And so on the same day that the tampering charges filed by the Patriots against the Jets over Darrelle Revis became the latest chapter in a longstanding feud between the franchises, the tentacles of acrimony between the two franchises found a way to erupt into a brouhaha unlike many the NFL ever has seen.

Can we please have a moratorium of “deflate-gate” stories?

It was “bread and circuses” when the NFL concocted the “scandal” and it's still “bread and circuses”.

It’s not about hating. It’s about a team that breaks the rules repeatedly. No other team has had any sort of similar infractions organizationally. While overblown...yes, and no. It’s the Super Bowl and everything is overblown. The fact that this happened is no small deal and needs to be dealt with in the offseason..both in punishment and also rules adjustments.

There is a massive advantage to have a ball that’s easier to grip and hold on to. Easier to catch, less likely to fumble.

With these two teams, the only thing I can root for are injuries and my numbers in the pool.

This is a really pathetic WWE-like attempt at keeping the SB in the news for two weeks because most people couldn’t give a rat’s ass about this game. They probably wrote the script for this BS in July.

This is NOT a news story.

It is fake news.

Let’s face it...the NFL combined IQ is borderline moron....except the team owners. We as fans should be able to watch our teams, enjoy the game, have some fun without the total BS press conferences....

Who cares? This really is one of the least consequential stories ever, along with which celebrity is sleeping/splitting up with which celebrity.

You have that power already. Don't open up the thread. Easy as changing channels.

Bored housewives obsess about celebrities and like to spend their time talking about what they read in the supermarket gossip tabloids.

Their male counterparts do the same when it comes to sports and what they read in the sports pages.

It was pouring rain during the game. Hasn’t anyone worn leather gloves in the rain? They get wet, soggy, and they STRETCH. When the leather in the ball stretches, the pressure goes down!

“There is a massive advantage to have a ball that’s easier to grip and hold on to. Easier to catch, less likely to fumble.”

If that is truly the case for this sport, why check the balls hours before the game and then let them be under control of the respective teams? For a sport with so many commercial breaks, why not just simply check the balls during the game?
