Winter Returns to New England this Weekend
Roy Spencer ^ | 1/22/2014 | Roy Spencer

After almost two months of mostly balmy winter weather, a pair of winter storms will bring a foot or more of snow to much of New England starting this weekend.

The first storm will travel up the East Coast on Saturday as a nor’easter, then an Alberta Clipper type storm will follow on Monday and Tuesday. The second storm could be the more potent one, with higher winds and disrupting the work-week.

Here are the currently forecast snow totals ending next Wednesday morning, Jan. 28

Looks current... and as much as I like the snow on the weekends, the part about Monday and Tuesday and disruption of the workforce pains me! Snow is so beautiful, but travel real does stink unless and until all the plowing and sanding is done, etc. See, I’m complaining already and it’s not even here yet... UGH

You put the wrong date in for the article. You are off by a year.

In that case, just lay in the supply of chips and beer.

I don't want to believe it.

I haven't started my snowblower yet this winter and want to make it into February.

With the exception of early December we haven't had much of a winter along the coast south of Boston.

I am willing to trade snow for colder weather. -Tom

I wouldn’t call it “balmy”.

I was here for the Blizzard of ‘78.After having spent 2 full days shoveling out my father's place (snowblowers were worthless for that one) I took a walk over to a stretch of I-95 where a number of people had frozen to death stuck n their cars.Walking down the middle of a completely deserted Interstate was a new experience for me.

Not to mention the driveway plowing... I suppose I could do it with a snow blower but driveway is super long and very steep, with a steep $100 per plow bill along with it. That said I priced it out last year, or the year before, and it turns out my $100 bill is a steep steal!

Please don’t use that map as an actual forecast of snow amounts. Check your local NWS site as we get closer to the event.

“I wouldn’t call it “balmy”.”

Me either . I don’t think we’ve had three days above freezing for the past month.

A re-look at the attached weather map shows it is the forcast for Jan 2015; the poster got his date wrong in the header.
