SEATTLE --
Commuters in Belltown report seeing a Black Labrador riding the bus alone in recent weeks. The 2-year old has been spotted roaming the aisles, hopping onto seats next to strangers, and even doing her part to clean the bus -- by licking her surroundings.
"All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does," said commuter Tiona Rainwater, as she rode the bus through downtown Monday. "She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?"
When the dog got off the bus - without an owner - at a dog park last week, it piqued the curiosity of local radio host Miles Montgomery.
"It doesn't really appear to have an owner. The dog gets off at the dog park. I just look out the window and I'm like, 'did that just happen?'" Montgomery asked. "She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn't figure out what that was. It was really just about seeing where her stop was."
Turns out the dog, Eclipse, doesn't always ride the bus alone. She visits the dog park a few times a week, sometimes with her owner.
The duo lives right near the bus stop at 3 Ave. W. and W. Mercer Street. Eclipse's solo rush hour ride happened one day when her owner took too long to finish a cigarette.

Great story. Thanks for posting.
Must not be very many Mohammedans in Seattle.
That is hilarious. Smart dog.
KOMO classic.
A few years ago I read an article about stray dogs in Moscow. They learned the train schedules and could go where ever they wanted. The passengers didn’t seem to mind.
The smartest dog I have ever owned was half lab and half Siberian. He looked like a yellow lab but had one blue eye.
Unfortunately, we have homeless people to do that here on our buses.
Sounds like a beautiful dog, too.
My lab is a genius. Ornery, but very very smart. He knows an amazing number of words. He also likes to guess what is going to happen next. He is very routine oriented.
The shortline railroad I used to work for had a neighborhood Golden Retriever that would show up at the shop every morning at 7:30 when we opened up the enginehouse and he would hang out in the shop office all day.
Aside from running freight, we had a tourist passenger operation as well with historic coaches and when we would run school trips Sandy would head over to the picnic grove and “make friends” with the kids.
At the end of the day, one of the guys from the track gang would load Sandy in his car and drive him 1/4 mile up the road to his owner’s house. This was the routine every day.
Sometimes the truck drivers that were in and out of the yard transloading plastic resin from covered hoppers onto their truck would load up Sandy for a road trip... everyone knew where Sandy lived... so it was OK with his humans.
One year when we were running Santa Claus trains, we loaded Sandy onboard and as Santa made the rounds through the train asking little boys and girls what they wanted for Christmas, giving out candy canes, Sandy was right behind him going down the aisle of the coach, all happy to get pets and treats from the kids. Sandy was as much as, if not more that the hit that Santa was with the kids.
I recall Sandy “The Railroad Dog” getting a front page article in the County newspaper... I can still vividly see Sandy sleeping on the couch in the shop office... that was 25 years ago... What a dog!
ping for the doggy ping list.
Another great story. Thanks Rodamala.
Most dogs are. I had an uncle who raised bird dogs for sale. His observation was, "A happy dog gets the same meal at the same time every day."
I currently have have a half pitty, half German shep mix that is way too smart!
Dang dog tries to talk by whining, constantly! I do love him though.
OK Red, go get your dang ball.
LOL! That’s great. I call mine “fuss budget” a lot of the time. He does the whining bit, too. He’s just trying to get me to do something — trying to train me.
Great story about Sandy. He had a regular job. Dogs are so great.
Dually is the happiest dog I have ever known! The perpetually wagging tail could provide a renewable energy source,
They both go dead onto protective mode at intruders.
Good for them. That’s awesome.
btw, Dually is a cute name. Reminds me of a western show I saw recently.
