The British soldier guarding the German POWs is awfully loose with his weapon and nazis at his back. Must be lots of other armed allies around.
I think the prisoners were thankful THEIR participation is over ... and they knew the English and Americans weren’t cruel and had no C camps.
My Dad said he and another guy were on patrol when they ran into some Germans. The Germans dropped their weapons and asked to be taken prisoner. The guy with my Dad just wanted to shoot them all but my Dad walked them back to camp as prisoners. He told me the story before he died in 2002 and he was still horrified by the guy that was with him.
The German prisoners are probably so glad to be in British hands instead of Russian that they're inclined to be cooperative.
