Genesee County is in upstate NY between Buffalo and Rochester. It is not urban.

Maybe the kids simply joked about it - and with atmosphere of tense, rigid, blinkered security and liability fears of educrats these days, it took on the trappings of an Al Qaeda plot

Dear Lord,
More young girls headed down the path of death and destruction and another set of parents said they knew about it as well, but did not tell anyone. Raising girls to be terrorists ... to find terrorist husbands, to murder and/or worse. Am at the point of our system cannot hand out enough punishment for these young girls and their parents unless sending them (all of them) into parts of the world where they be amongst those of their own kind. Then once the killing has to start at least they will be targets themselves instead of plotting to make others targets.

Theres a little Appalachia in every state.
Appalachia begins in the southern part of NY state. There are some desperately poor places there--well, Ontario county east of Rochester is also poor. Lots of apple trees, and not much going on. The weather does not help.

I am not sure I see this as too alarming. I recall as a kid mixing up a crazy concoction in a cup, it was for the mean old lady next door to us. I never did anything with it, I think I got the idea from Snow White and pretending made me feel better.

For what it's worth...
I read some years ago that the Appalachian region has the largest segregated White population of anywhere else in the world.

Now if they’d pointed their fingers at the teacher and said “bang,” they’d all be in jail by now.

This is in the same vein as what I've been telling you for months. How totally without any ability to connect actions and consequences students are today. How totally callous they are. How totally unwilling they are to accept responsibility for the grades they receive, if they fail. Never their fault. So let's poison our teacher, right? That will improve our grades.
What on EARTH did these students who wanted to poison their teacher learn in their homes about work, responsibility, ethics, etc.? One shudders to think.
There is NOTHING cute or remotely funny about students seeking to poison their teacher. What if the teacher had gone into anaphylactic shock, maybe even died?

Schools taking young girls to the abortionist without their parents' knowledge.
Anything goes these days.

A kid in my school put superglue on a teachers seat. It was my English teacher that was glued to her seat but in the next class period.

Being part of a state dominated by leftists from New York City doesn’t help either. Democrats have done everything they can to destory upstate New York. It was once prosperous. Hard to imagine it can be again as long as they are tethered to the deadweight of a city of millions of dependents sucking on the state government and federal government teats.
