The QUIET Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said last year during his final days as Mayor, that he would not publicly criticize Bill deBlasio in his first year in office. So far, he has kept that promise. "In the first year, in particular, when you're a new mayor, you just don't need a previous mayor criticizing your every move, and Rudy (Giuliani) never once did."

Despite the fact that deBlasio and his team has bashed Bloomberg over the past year on his handling of Hurricane Sandy recovery and his failure to negotiate new contracts with city unions, Bloomberg has maintained his silence. In March, Bloomberg commented on some of deBlasio's decisions, in an obtuse fashion, by stating that he opposed the boycott of the St. Patrick's Day Parade for excluding gays and didn't agree with the co-location of charter schools- but never did he directly disparage the mayor by name.

Bloomberg has even remained silent during the recent uproar that began after a Staten Island's grand jury decided not to indict police officers in the Eric Garner case. One can only imagine the gnashing of teeth and biting of tongue that is needed for the former mayor to remain by all appearances detached from the political scene. Many expect this to change as deBlasio begins his second year in office. No doubt he has definite opinions on who should be doing what. The hazard would be to overdo the dispensation of free advice. This is how many perceive the former President Jimmy Carter, who it seems cannot accept the serenity of his retirement, preferring instead to hold press attention as a perpetual contrarian to the conservative perspective.

So Wilhelm/de Blasio has even less class than Mike Bloomberg? Wow.

It’s okay that Bloomberg remains silent this first year of Wilhelm’s being Mayor of NYC, because Rudy Guliani, Mayor before Bloomberg is under so such constraints and his been everywhere on TV beating DeBlasio about the head daily. Love it
