Okay. Doesn't fall under "Breaking News" but, I don't post articles very often.
So, I drop off my Alki friend so he can do some walk in/walk out bail thing at the Sheriffs Department.
I'm bored and spy a Thai restaurant across the street.
At first my thoughts were just about some delish lemongrass soup. So I walk in and order their lemongrass soup.
But, they offered a twist I hadn't been offered at othe Thai restaurants "You want regular or spicy?".
"Huh? Why I'll take spicy. I love spicy anything" I responded
Well, they tried to talk me out of it, saying most Americans can't handle it.
I laughed and said I'd eat anything and "Heck yeah, I want spicy. Make it hot as you want"
So they offered to make it and if I couldn't eat it, they'd replace it with something easier.
OMG!!! This was the hottest dang'd soup evuh!!!
Took me 45 minutes to finish it and I loved it!!!
Never noticed this place but, you can bet I'll be back.
Paid the check and they were all pretty chatty and not believing me when I said I loved it.
I was sweating but heck, that ain't ever stopped me and this was so awesome!
Now, I'm gonna wash it down with a diet coke.
Belongs in breaking news.
Pad Thai and Yellow Curries!
OMG! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Seriously. When ordering Thai food, just stick with “little” spicy.
If you can stand the heat - then go for “medium” spicy.
But dont. Just Don’t order extra spicy. Unless you have prepared your Will and have 911 on speed dial.
"Sure," I sez. "C'mon, it's only lemon grass soup."
Don't order "Thai" spicy.
What state was it?
Generally they offer a scale of hotness, with 7 or 8 being extremely hot, and above that being when they ask you, if you are sure.
Elaboration to those not comprehending: Your suffering is doubled, as it's just as hot going out as going down, if you're not used to it. I've had 'too hot' with cheap peppers; those were the most miserable 2 days of that decade. Frankly, I've grown to like tasting my food...with 'just a kick'...and not suffering the back-end (no pun intended).
I just cannot express how much I loved it.
I never noticed this place and they’ve been there 18 years.
I will totally come back.
I want some. Me likes spicy.
What’s the name of the Restaurant?
...or in breaking wind.
I said “4” when they asked me that at the Chinese place. Just enough spice without being excessive.
San Jose, CA.
They didn’t scale it but, I did say “However the cooks eat it, I’ll take it”.
Just so flavorful and damned hot.
Hotter than the Pozole I had last week and I love that Mexican restaurant. Usually have Menudo but, the guy I insisted I try his brother’s new recipe.
This lemongrass soup was sweet, with veggies only and hot.
Perfect for an afternoon snack, in winter.
Hang on.
I’ll turn around and drive by to get the name.
However the cooks eat it, Ill take it
That could be dangerous in Thai restaurants, as far as heat.
Thai is sure flavorful though, even when tears are running down, the flavor and smoothness comes through.
BTW, stupid funny link here.
Only counts if it burns coming out the other end.
Try ramping it up though, and see if it doesn’t hook you, go with something that may seem too much for you for it to still be appealing, maybe a 7, Thai can hold up under the heat.
Nice graphic.
