Liam Neeson: Taken films have put Americans off travelling to Europe

'Liam Neeson says he’s received many letters from Americans too scared to travel to Europe after watching the ‘Taken’ films.

The 62-year-old actor stars as retired CIA agent Bryan Mills in the action franchise and admits fans have written to him saying they’re frightened of travelling abroad due to the storylines in which his wife and daughter are kidnapped.

Speaking on the Graham Norton Show, while promoting 'Taken 3', he said: “Just the other day I got a letter from a school teacher in Texas who had tried to take 60 students to Europe and the families of 40 of them got the kids out of it because they had seen ‘Taken 2’.

And then this year she wanted to take 20 of them and the parents all said, ‘No, because we’ve seen that movie!’.'

Surely this cannot be true, but I believe Neeson.

I know Americans, I have met Texans, I know they aren’t this dumb. Are they?.

Nah, I’ve never been interested in going to continental Europe in the first place.

Forget the movies. I’d go, but the crazy moose limbs give me pause.

Happy New Year to you Scotsman. From an earlier post.

And no, it sure as heck wasn’t the movie that put off a lot of Americans from visiting. My only suggestion to those that want to go is to stay out of the population centers. Stick to the moors. :>}

I haven’t seen the films, but the reality of many European countries totally submitting to fanatical Islamic “beliefs” is enough to scare me from going to Europe.

Most Americans are terrified of Europe because of a Liam Neeson movie trilogy...yep.

I mean he stated he got a letter from a teacher. It has to be true.

Rural Scotland is actually one of the few places in Europe I have any interest in seeing.

Don’t worry about the moose limbs causeing you any harm on a visit.
There is more danger of being shot by a cop on a routine traffic stop at home than being hurt by a rag-head in Europe.

I haven’t seen Neeson’s movie, but having Uncle Sam sending me to Europe for two tours of duty (see my tagline) and having a nephew there now, I have no problem with returning at any time.

Well , I’ve seen the movies, but my real life family stories are a little more scary. My son was standing in the Gloucester tube station, having just missed his train, when it was blown up by terrorists. Then, a few weeks later his trip to Egypt had to be canceled because of terrorist fighting and then on the train to Paris, a group of masked men boarded the train, running up the aisles, yelling something which my son and his friends could not understand, but which caused absolute panic among the other passengers.

“Well , I’ve seen the movies, but my real life family stories are a little more scary.”

Yikes—that sounds like the trip from hell.

My family has been much luckier.
