I just found that FOX News is no longer available on DISH TV. The TV screen now shows nothing but a DISH TV logo now.

Threats of losing service from both sides happens during contract negotiations even with cable.

Cable blames networks/channels for wanting more $$$.

Networks/channels blame cable for not paying them enough $$$.

Sometimes the channel on cable goes black for a few hours. Then, miraculously, they reach agreement, the network is back on, and all is right in world.

Sucks, I have Fox News on all day. But, it was nice to see Laura Dhue on The Blaze, Channel 205 in CA(which is usually Fox News) My beloved husband loved her.

Fox apparently believes they have the market share to give them leverage in these negotiations. Given the absolutely dismal ratings of every other "cable news" station, I'd have to say they are right. Maybe Fox is being unreasonable. I don't know as I'm not privy to the negotiations, but I'd say given ratings stats, Fox should be getting 4 times if not more than CNN gets. Hell, given their abysmal ratings, CNN and MSNBC should be paying dish to carry them.

There are other streaming sources as well.

Don’t expect cable or satellite quality or reliability.

When you think about it, why should the satellite and cable companies have to pay anything to air free content that is available by antenna?
