Except, none of them were instantly eligible for section 8 housing, they didn't get translators at government expense, they didn't get SNAP, WIC, or EBT cards and, they were required to be quarantined if they didn't pass a Doctors physical.
I'm probably more pro-legal immigration than most here at FR. However, that means you have a sponsor, you are NOT eligible for government assistance (that is what the sponsor is for), you are deported if you commit a felony. If you stay out of trouble for 6 years, learn English, and pass a civics test, then you are eligible for citizenship.
