“I predict cluster headaches for genealogists of the future.
That, and family trees that are shaped like fairground pretzels.”
Wow I never thought about that!!!
I’m anxious to be able to legally change my ethnicity to Black. I’ve always felt I was a black man and I think it would benefit me to finally have it recognized. I’m tired of the dermatodysphoric-phobic bigots keeping from being kept down.
If it passes other states should pass a law saying, “birth certificates from New York will no longer be accepted as proof of identification”.
No state should change Anything on a birth certificate. But if I’m ever convicted of self-defense against a 300 lb unarmed 17-yr old baby thug, I’ll take the ladies lockup.
ALAS, BRAVE NEW BABYLON.
Social insanity on this level ALWAYS ends in calamity.
ALWAYS.
Just wrong. The DNA is the same. You can’t fool Mother Nature.
Isn’t a birth certificate issued by the state? In Alaska it is.
"assigned"???
If the "assignment" was a MISTAKE, due to the newborn having no genitals, or ambiguous/malformed genitals, or both types; or it was later discovered that the chromosomes weren't a match to the initial assignment, then okay, mistakes happen, fix it.
But if the "assignment" was CORRECT, based on an unambiguous set of genitals, and an unambiguous set of chromosomes, then that should stand, until such time as the individual has made sufficient changes to their physiology and biochemistry (via surgery and hormones) that the only thing left of their original sex is their chromosomes. IMO they're still the sex their chromosomes say, but they've shown sufficient dedication to being the opposite sex that I can go along with giving them the right to call themselves that officially.
But geez, folks, letting people screw around with their birth certificate on a freakin' verbal whim is just insane.
Do we already have a case of someone changing his birthplace?
