Chevron Donates $26,000 to Planned Parenthood, Blocks Shareholder Resolution to Complain

One of the world’s largest oil companies has not only donated tens of thousands of dollars to one of the world’s biggest abortion companies, but it blocked a shareholder resolution complaining about it.

Tom Strobhar, Chairman of Life Decision International, which monitors companies that donate to Planned Parenthood, said the corporation blocked a resolution by a teacher from Chicago complaining about the donation.

Responding to that, Strobhar, following the teacher’s lead and hoping to force Chevron to list the groups it supports so information about its $26,000 check to Planned Parenthood could be further brought to light filed his own resolution.

Strobhar filed a shareholder resolution asking Chevron to list on its website the beneficiaries of its charitable contributions.

“This lady, who regularly pickets at an abortion clinic, decided last year to take her pro-life passion one step further by filing a shareholder resolution,” Strobhar said of the teacher who wishes to remain anonymous. “When Chevron defended its contribution, claiming it was legal and, therefore, something they couldn’t discriminate against, she took action.”

“The company did everything it could to try to dissuade this brave teacher,” he added. “However, she insisted her resolution be put before all shareholders, and that she be given time to speak to the Board of Directors at the annual meeting.”

The teacher did not get enough votes to pass the resolution. “Still, the number of votes she did receive allowed her to bring back the resolution this year,” Strobhar said. “But she was convinced the best course of action was to sell her shares rather than promote the evil agenda of Planned Parenthood.”

Strobhar, having witnessed the positive impact similar resolutions have had in the past, submitted the same resolution in her place.

For initially filing the resolution, Strobhar said “our hats are off” to the teacher: “It’s examples of bravery and persistence like hers that sustains us at Life Decisions International.”

I have been using the Chevron station next to work. Off to Shell now, until I find out who they donate to.

I don’t need to buy Chevron. They can kill babies without my money.

Chevron really nailed this one. This ought to really up their cred with liberal women drivers. Seems well considered.

Pretty stupid of Chevron - to pay a business to kill off their future customers!

Let's let 'em know that they've cut off future business just because someone in their head office loves killing babies and the butchers who do it for them.

They have also been bankrolling a huge AIDS relief push lately. While it primarily shows African people (unclear if they actually have AIDS), it seems to have just cranked up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is part of a lawsuit settlement somewhere requiring them to donate to liberal causes instead of paying damages. Or maybe just another San Francisco based company doing what comes naturally.
