One of the versions I heard is that Kim Jong-il had some unpleasant exchange with Kim Jong-un. Stressed up, he went to his eldest daughter's house(Kim Sol-song) to relax and cool off.

It was the place he frequently went when he needed some break.

He had a dinner and ended up drinking too much, which lead to his heart attack.

By the way, I always enjoy reading your posts, even though I seldom comment on them, myself. I have probably learned more about North Korea in the last few years, via your information, than I had, before that time. My observation of the North started during the Pueblo incident, just for perspective :)

There was a story about Kim Jong-il bringing in call girls(strippers?) from Europe. One of them was said to be Swedish. The rumor has it that he really did some workout. That was way back. Late 80’s or early 90’s.

In a symbolic sense, yes.
He would like to have some close blood relative within the inner circle of power. He also needs somebody he can absolutely trust when going gets tough, and readily available on notice. His aunt, even if alive, may not fill that part. She is too old and distant.
