I”m a fairly big guy, and I can’t comfortably carry a S&W 9mm Shield concealed. I’ve been searching for the right rig to carry it, but ultimately it is uncomfortable no matter what I do. That’s why I’m probably going to switch to a .380, like a Kahr P380. That gun can go in my pocket without printing in most cases. The small gun you have with you offers more protection than the larger gun you left at home.

Where have you tried carrying it? And IMHO, a modern weight/pressure distributing holster is night-and-day superior to old small holsters.

I just plucked this image from the ether, but it gives you the idea. The large piece of leather on the inside is soft and the pressure tapers out over a wide area. You just cannot believe how much more comfortable a rig like this is than a holster that just holds the gun and jabs you in the hip or side, shifts around, etc.

I have formal self defense.

I carry everywhere, including Gibbs rule “Always carry a knife “.

I would absolutely defend myself and anyone under attack.

One of those (a Galco King Tuck) is my next try. I’ve held off because I’m also considering getting a Springfield XD-S.

I mind my own business unless it is kids in danger or being harmed. The best gunfight is the one you don’t have.

I am a big fan of Springfield XD’s generally. But the EDS-9 is just as big and bulky as the XDS-45. Same outer dimensions. It’s bulkier than an M&P, designed around the 9mm envelope.

1. conceal
2. state permits I just don’t.
3. dependent on situation
4. see #3
5. see #3
6. Military
7. see #6
8. yes

I tend to carry no matter what the local ‘laws’ are.
I do NOT speed, drive erratically nor think the Cops are ‘out to get me’ and on the rare occasion of being involved in a traffic stop, am polite and firm.
Depending on the situation, in a ‘gun friendly’ state I may announce I am carrying but only after ‘observing’ the officer and his/her demeanor.

If I am a ‘victim’ of a robbery, mugging or in an establishment that is being robbed - I am ‘old enough’ to have a ‘heart attack’ and collapse to the ground...Mind you that is just to get my bearings and lay of the land.
Unless the situation looks like it is going south, I will not draw or attempt to stop the robbery - in MOST instances. Again, too many tangibles involved- how many perps, location, chances of someone (victim) getting shot that maybe wouldn’t etc.

If in the area of an ‘open situation’ with active firing, will attempt to get in a position to either disable or disarm the shooter...AGAIN, all situations are different and one must have a ‘plan’ for whatever arises when it arises.

A mugging of myself is dependent on where I am - try car jacking me and I will be intending to shoot you.
Come into my home uninvited and I will be intending to shoot you.
Granted I may not always be in a position to readily get to my ‘friend’, nonetheless I feel ‘safer’ at least knowing I will have an opportunity to protect myself etal if the situation arises.

Guess you can look at it like defensive driving.
If for nothing more than passing the time, I am constantly looking for ‘escape routes’ should I observe someone running a light, not going to stop behind you, leave enough space at a light so you can ‘maneuver’ your vehicle etc etc

Like the man says
a pistol is like a parachute.
If you really need one and don’t have one, the chances are you will not need one again.

EDS-9 is a typo, meant XDS-9.

That’s why you NEVER REGISTER in the first place!

About the time they start collecting 4473’s, I’ll start to worry about it.

When they DO start collecting them, that is the flag that CONFISCATION IS AROUND THE CORNER.

THAT is when it’s time to stop the madness.

NOT after they start the door to door crap.

Oh, I get it, I dropped it in the lake and if you want it, go get a diver to find it. Thank goodness I live in a state that does not require me to register.

That's the ticket. But as far as state to state registration goes, it is immaterial. BATFE agents can saunter in to any firearms dealer in the nation and ask to see the dealers collection of Fireams Transaction Records...form 4473. All your info is right there for them to see. Now, legally they cannot copy or remove these forms from the premises. But when did BATFE agents ever care much about legalities?

The only 4473 I have ever filled out was at the Rod & Gun Club in Fulda, West Germany(1983). The ONLY firearm the government knows I have had in my possession is a Browning Hi-Power 9mm.

That IS my story, and I am sticking to it!

I carry concealed. Always. Usually my Ruger SR9c. If I’m just taking my trash to the curb I at least will slip my little .32 Keltec in my pocket. I do not open carry although it’s legal in PA, unless I’m at my farm in Jefferson County. As I’m getting older (65 next June) and don’t have a lot of upper body strength, I worry about crowded places and don’t want to be a target for a flash mob situation. However, I like the freedom of being able to do so if want to.

Never say never!

Given enough ammo and years, I might succeed. The only way to know for sure is experiment. I can always name my F350 “Shoulder”. That could even be said to be a ‘technical’ solution.

;-)

After all, the voters bought a far less believable story.
