CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager, who has been running the networks news division along with 60 Minutes for the past four years, said Thursday that hes stepping down from the chief executive role to concentrate on the newsmagazine. [ ]
While Fager didnt succeed in lifting the CBS Evening News and CBS This Morning out of third place in the ratings, he set each program in a clear thematic direction with a harder, more traditional news broadcast than its rivals. Fager installed Scott Pelley as the evening news anchor and recently hired former NBC News President Steve Capus to run the broadcast.

They keep re-arranging the deck chairs but the ship is still sinking.
With three large free/over-air news groups, logic dictates someone’s going to have to come in third. Inevitable.
I suppose some spouse or sibling of a white house official will be ready to step right in, as is the case on all the other networks.

I wonder why any of the MSM even call their programs news ... might as well call them the Evening Entertainment Tonight Program as they offer so little of what could be called news and more of what could be called pap.
No, no. He shouldn't be stepping down. If there were justice, the fifth-column CBS news chairman should have been indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced, and fallen through the trap door on the gallows... and the same goes for fifth-columnist Scott Pelley, for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
