The college football universe is back to where it should be with 'Bama at the number 1 spot after defeating Miss State. I would say Dak Prescott's Heisman chance is gone. Hell froze over for the Sun Devils in Corvallis ending their hopes for a playoff spot. TCU after struggling in Kansas fell to #5. If TCU and Baylor win out Baylor might have the better chance of earning a spot playing Kansas State at the end of the season. For once it will be a quiet week in the SEC West with the premier game being Ole Miss at Arkansas. Since it is always an adventure for FSU they host Boston College. Some Pac-12 games between ranked opponents with AZ @ Utah and the USC-UCLA game. The big story is if 'Bama and Miss State win out will Miss State keep its spot in the playoff despite not winning the SEC West causing gnashing of teeth in Columbus, Ohio and Texas.

All debate would end by expanding the playoffs to include seven teams then choosing the entire SEC West division to fill all of the slots.

Oregon has a quarterback who isn’t bad.

That wouldn’t work this year - Oregon is better than 3 of the teams in the SEC west this year.

There was a proposal for 8 team playoff with each Big-5 champion getting an automatic spot. Higher ranked teams would host early round games. The Big 10 = 14 shot down the idea because they were more concerned with keeping the Rose Bowl happy. Looks like that will bite them in the rear this year.

I love the playoff just wish it were 8. Power 5 champs plus 3 at-large bids.

Oregon is? Go back and look up at how they have done with SEC teams in the past.

Both Bama and MS State can beat Oregon. I don’t see FSU surviving a two-game playoff either. They aren’t as good as last year.

Wisconsin CRUSHED Nebraska! Huskers dropped in standings, like a rock.

MS State plays Vandy this week, then Ole Miss the next week. Also, don’t forget that AL has to play Auburn 2 Saturdays from now.

We’re on the same page - Oregon would probably beat Arkansas, TAM, an LSU. I think the remaining teams would beat Oregon.

I see FSU losing to Fla. They’ll be out.

Who will move in?

Bama v Auburn is a rivalry game so all bets are off - but I think Bama beats them almost as bad as Georgia did when it’s all over.

Mizzou loses to Ten - Ga v Bama in SEC champ. game. Great game.

Well, here’s proof of the clear inferiority of Marshall when stacked up against the vaunted SEC West. They have a common opponent in Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles played at Mississippi State to open the season. They lost, 49-0. Two weeks later, the Golden Eagles played at Alabama. They lost, 52-12.

Two weeks ago, Southern Miss hosted Marshall. They lost, 63-17. So, clearly Marshall has no business being ranked or even in the discussion for the football playoff despite being 10-0. I hope this puts an end to any claims that Marshall is just as good as those Big 5 conferences.

Maybe let Marshall play Vanderbilt or Florida, to prove themselves?

Yep. If Bama wins, they will have to beat UGA (probably UGA) in the SEC championship game too. Probably the most difficult road of the top teams.

All Miss State has to do is beat Ole Miss which is without their best player.

Oregon is a good team and I’m glad we will find out how good. But the automatic love they got after losing at home to Arizona was a bit perplexing.

How are they better than Ohio State? Oregon’s signature win was beating MSU at home. OSU crushed MSU at East Lansing.

In a way MSU benefitted by losing to Bama, they won’t have to play the extra game that Bama will.
