To make things worse, during an interview a D.C. police department employee essentially argued that Second Amendment rights don't apply in D.C. because they were written "for when the British were coming." For the record, "the British were coming" (a reference from Paul Revere's famous ride) in 1775. The Second Amendment wasn't written until 1787. Yes, we fought the British again for the War of 1812, but that isn't why the Amendment was written.

Indeed it was. And ‘the British’ were our own oppressive government at the time. Who’s ‘the British’ now, Officer Donut?

Another reason why a 9th grade course solely on The Federalist Papers should be required of every single citizen who expects to vote someday. We should expect voters to understand the Constitution and our system before they can exercise that privilege. Even more disgusting that public officials clearly have no idea whatsoever about the meaning or history of our Constitution.

Or one who is intentionally Gruber-izing the Constitution. Supreme Court: Americans are too stupid to understand their Constitution, they need the Judiciary and lawyers to tell them what it means.

Another reason why a 9th grade course solely on The Federalist Papers should be required of every single citizen who expects to vote someday. So long as its preceded by an 8th Grade course on the Anti-federalist Papers.

It’s a real shame that the Federalist Papers weren’t somehow officially incorporated into the Constitution.
Because they are not “law”, they are often ignored.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. It should be an obsolete requirement to study them... one hour class, every year of high school. Of course leftists want them burned and buried

To be ‘fair’, this employee is almost certainly following department philosophy and more scrutiny & criticism should go against the DC City Government and the DC Police hierarchy.

An article written for the Atlanta Jounal and Constitution 30 odd years ago by the president of the Fed’s SE region argued convincingly that the Fed was needed to avoid bank “runs” such as the one portrayed in Capra’s It’s A Wonderful Life.. Problem: The Fed was created BEFORE the movie.
