RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A man wanted in connection with a quadruple homicide has been arrested after authorities say he was hiding in plain sight for 12 years.
U.S. Marshals descended Thursday on a home in the 3500 block of Farnham Place and arrested Eduardo Rodriguez, who lived there with his fiancée and several children.
“They had big guns and we were just kind of scared and we had the children,” said Dulce Rodriguez, a neighbor. “We see the helicopter flashing the light, and there’s a truck right in front with a man who they’re pointing big guns again, telling him to get out and put his hands up.”
Neighbors snapped photos and video as authorities took Rodriguez, who was one of the LAPD’s most wanted, into custody.
“We got scared because they started saying to get inside the house, to close the doors and everything, so we just run inside, like really scared,” said another neighbor.
Police say Rodriguez had been on the run for 12 years.
According to authorities, the 35-year-old was indicted on four murder counts and two counts of attempted murder in 2003. He is accused of fatally shooting a mother of three in an Atwater Village apartment complex, along with a man who was in a rival gang in 2001.
“I’m confused and shocked. We live for a year like we are neighbors, and I don’t know,” said Francisca Garivay, a neighbor.
But federal agents say Rodriguez worked as a carpenter and likely hid his criminal past from his fiancée and the children that lived with them.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals office says Facebook posts helped lead to Rodriguez’s capture as photos of him were posted by his fiancée.
Rodriguez will likely make a court appearance within the next several days

Local cop recognized him on FB. Reported it to the Marshals. Basic police work. Facebook just presented the opportunity better.
