"Here in Wisconsin, we have the Castle Doctrine. When the shtf and the looters arrive, it becomes “open season”.....”I feared for my life” is all you need to say."

We have the 'Castle Law' here in Alabama too...and, I've read that it's one of the most 'severe' in the country.
Now, I have a chain link fence around the one acre directly around my house and I keep the gates locked most of the time. I asked a sheriff's deputy once that if there's a person within my fenced area hasn't he 'broken & entered' and might I be justified in shooting him under our 'castle law.'
He looked a little unsure and just said, "what-ever you can convince a grand jury."

So.....

Job change and health issues.

I will miss the hill top view, the 4 dogs and private gun range.

Yeah, minus three of the dogs and the health issues, that’s me. My wife has bad alergies but she still sez she loves it here and wouldn’t give it up for anything.

I tell people that if God had not invented air conditioning, there is no way I’d live here. I suppose my wife is the same way, but substitute air conditioning with Claratin. ;-)

But I do start my new gig in downtown Louisville next month. Adds a few miles to my commute but more than pays the difference...

Training is good, as long as it is followed by practice, practice, practice.

When is the Ferguson grand jury announcement expected?

Check the weather forecast and look for the day with the worst weather.

There needs to be a much better description of the threat than just “rioters”. Rioting is pretty much limited to dense urban areas. Other places have other threats.

So the way to start is to describe where you live, as urban, suburban, or rural. Over half the population now live in suburbs. This means that attacks against them require transportation. So instead of calling them rioters, they should be called “brigands” or “bandits”.

They would likely come to a single home in several vehicles, cars and motorcycles, with attackers numbering greater than just a robbery gang of 4-6, likely 6-12 or more. Their inclination is not vandalism, but robbery, and to kill anyone in their way.

If they are experienced, they may even leave “pickets” on their entrance and exit routes, to delay any armed response while they escape.

Different threat, so somewhat different response.

I implemented the key part of my plan in 2011. I moved from the Seattle area to a 32 acre farm in central KY. The “mobs” have to get through 70 miles of people like me to get to me.

I did basically the same. Moved from Wisconsin to a remote part of eastern Tennessee. Even should the bad guys arrive, my house is floating on a lake so they need to get past my "moat".

When I lived in Seattle, I had a custom license plate frame that said, “Mercer Island. World’s biggest moat.”

I lived a couple of blocks from Paul Allen’s house. Lake Washington really could serve as a sort of moat for that place.

“Their plan is to march down the street with crossed ammo belts, headband and guns a blazing! Then once they mow a few down the rest will scatter. ;-)”

Can’t fault a proactive defense. Best way, though, is a couple of well-aimed shots from cover at a distance of a about two hundred yards.

They be skeedaddlin’ pretty fast after that. If not, keep shooting until they do. I’m not inclined to wait until they’re within range of my home.

99% of the braggarts never show up and if they do, they have mysteriously attained the rank of Colonel.

Maine State Militia has been around since 1985 in concept, since 1987 in actuality and practice. http://www.mainetv.net/

They’ll probably get taken out from behind without a shot fired. Most people don’t really understand how ruthless the rioters are, the’ll talk when they should shoot.
