A guy at Free Republic (obviously wiser than I) told me once that "Women pick the Men, not the other way around."

That's a disheartening scenario, given that Men are "story book scripted" into chasing the "woman of their dreams" past the moons of Orion's Belt and Jupiter.

That's a hard lesson.

Not uncommon for some Chinese to commit suicide over being shammed....even over insignificant things we’d see as very small...hopefully we won’t be reading about this for him. However, to be so foolish as to purpose to someone you’re “smitten” with that hardly knows you exist is pretty bizarre even for the Chinese....he must have other issues.

I received that advice a long time ago, too. At least it saved me some worry. Be the best you can be and if that's not good enough *shrug* money saved, sound sleep, and trouble avoided.

The problem is that the set up is nothing more than a “look at me, look at me” for him. One can only imagine what he would do for attention at the wedding and reception. The woman was wise.
