Thereafter his closest advisors were increasingly drawn from the ranks of the far Left. Only later did we learn that many of them were actually Soviet agents!
It is hard for many to believe that the hard-core Left took over DC in the 1930's and that today, their actual descendants are still there, still in government agencies, and still have enormous power over the life of every American. The Left has created a true ruling caste.
If one were to poll the DC staffs of Republican representatives today, you would quickly find that they are well to the left of most Americans and have no qualms about sabotaging Republican efforts at reform, such as they are.
That is why I never fell for the whole “Greatest Generation” theme.
