Staff at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan granted Sheila Marsh's last wish, by arranging a visit from two of her horses on Monday afternoon.

The hospital said the 77-year-old, unable to speak properly due to illness, "gently called" her favourite horse, who then nuzzled her cheek.

Mrs Marsh, who used to work at Haydock Park Racecourse, died early on Tuesday.

God gave dominion over all the animals on the Earth, but only horses and dogs know it.

That was very nice for the Hospital or Hospice to make this happen.

I’m about to make (personal) history here - I virtually NEVER praise administrators or governmental officials anymore, due to an utter wasteland of legitimate opportunity.

HOWEVER: God Bless the administrators and/or bureaucrats who enabled/allowed this to take place. It was a truly compassionate act in a world sorely lacking in anything even remotely close.

Elephants are pretty good at empathy - at least for other elephants.

I have a cat now who is empathic (except with rodents and lizards), but my mother in-law's cat was nasty. SOME CATS! That is correct... I know little about horses, but my poodles Rufus and Emma are both very sensitive and empathic.

I work in a hospital....

I work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday...52 weeks a year.

I've been involved in sneaking in dogs...for patients..many, many times.

Nothing better...in my mind.

Yeah—— I have tears too.

Very, very nice of that infirmary to make this kind gesture.

Mrs. Marsh will be watching the Rainbow Bridge someday.
