Local reporting puts John Katko (R) ahead of Dan Maffei (D) by 59 to 41%, with 77% of precincts reporting.
TOPICS: Local News
KEYWORDS: congress; danmaffei; elections; johnkatko; newyork; ny
This would be a Republican pick-up in the House if it holds.

Astorino did better than I thought he would. His concession speech was classy.
He said he’d be back in four.

I just had that feeling. Real enthusiasm for Katko. The only vote I cast tonight in NY for a (looks like it) winner.
To: Steely Tom
Good news if it holds. But a correction- it’s the 24th district, not 25.

R Astorino’s vote tally greatly exceeded what I expected. Freepers in general would be very very happy with Astorino and he is very unlike the NYC politicians or the stereotype of NY’ers. If the vote is analyzed by region, I expect that R Astorino did very well outside of the NYC/downstate areas and outside of the urban downtowns. NY is a very dichotomous state.

I was pleased though, that Astorino did as well as he did.
