Taitz seeks West Africa travel ban

The arrival of the Ebola virus in the United States and the threat of infection became central to arguments in federal court Wednesday of California dentist and attorney Orly Taitz, who seeks a court-ordered travel ban to West Africa.

She also seeks a court order stopping the transfer of undocumented immigrants in South Texas to other parts of the country, saying she fears the trans-mission of infectious diseases.

“There is a very high risk of Ebola,” Taitz told U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen during a day-long hearing in federal court in Brownsville.

Taitz also noted that she had predicted in prior court hearings that there would be cases of Ebola in the United States, and she detailed the numerous cases. “All show that what I had predicted indeed has happened,” Taitz told Hanen.

Whether or not Taitz has standing to sue the government remains unresolved, and Hanen said he would be issuing a decision soon.

The government contends that she does not have standing, and is instead attempting to substitute her judgment over immigration policies and practices.

Taitz filed her initial complaint in federal court on July 14 against President Barack Obama, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell and the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector.

She accused them of “trafficking illegal aliens.” The lawsuit seeks to stop the transport of undocumented immigrants to other states, that they be either deported or held in quarantine for two months because, she says, they spread epidemics of scabies, tuberculosis, measles, whooping cough, swine flu, dengue fever, Ebola virus and lice, and pose a threat to national security and safety.

We should have implemented the following 3-4 months ago:

MY PLAN TO ISOLATE THE EBOLA CRISIS IN WEST AFRICA:

1. Any U.S. citizen working in West Africa (in any way) in any of the striken countries should have a mandatory 21-day quarantine imposed on them at a clean facility at the airport in that nation. Then, when they clear that, they should be flown back to the United States on specially chartered aircraft that bring only US citizens back who are shown to be virus free.

2. All travel on commercial flights and shipping from those nations to the U.S. should be halted until the crisis is past.

3. No new travel visas for the U.S. should be approved or given to any individual from any of those nations until the crisis is past.

4. No current travel visa holders from any of those nations who are seeking to come to the U.S. should be allowed to do so. They should be stopped at those air ports and ports and informed thaat they cannot travel to the U.S. until the crisis is past.
