So refusing to pay for a child’s college cancels out the years from 0-18 of food, clothing, shelter, medical care and elementary and secondary education? A child who would turn away his/her parent in their old age, after being cared for as a child, is worse than a pagan.

The parent has the right to help or not.
The child has the same right when they are adults.
Not to mention love and affection.
