To: morphing libertarian

In the culture I was raised in (in the USA), no parents ever pay for college for their kids and all parents are well taken care of in their old age. Nursing homes only used for extreme cases of dementia, etc.

I do think there’s a correlation; a sense of duty was instilled at an earlier age and a larger tolerance for foibles of old age and a clearer understanding that childhood is not supposed to last forever.
