Members of the Iraqi army have torn down the sinister black flag of the Islamic State in Jurf al-Sakhr after forcing the terror group out of the strategically important city.
Soldiers removed the extremist group's emblem from a tower and replaced it with the Iraqi national flag in a symbolic gesture that came after days of heavy fighting.
The jihadis were forced to retreat from Jurf al-Sakhr and reassemble in the city's suburbs, with the group's leaders confirming a large number of militant deaths at the hands of the regime troops, but urging its fighters to remain in the area to launch renewed attacks.
ISIS' black flag was torn down as it emerged the U.S. had carried out fresh air strikes against ISIS in both Syria and Iraq, and as Washington called for the fight against the terrorists to be taken online.

0bola must be very sad that his boys are taking a beating.
This is good news. The only thing I see they did wrong was NOT hunting down and killing every single one of them. Forcing them out of town is a good solution- Eradicating them with extreme prejudice is the optimal solution.
Funny thing. I have the Iraqi Army ‘retaking’ Jurf al-Sakhr two months ago. And “suburbs?” There’s no urban to be subbed. I’ll resist the temptation to compare this with Mayberry and the Sheriff’s office, but this is no metropolis.
They could top the flagpole with the severed head of an ISIS fighter . . .
I read that ISIS is shipping captured Iraqi weapons to Syria. It ought to be a easy to pick out a US made truck or Hummvee on the road between Syria and Iraq and destroy them.
FINALLY, the Iraqi military understands that throwing down your weapons, shedding your uniform and trying to blend into the civilian population failed to work for their comrades who did that earlier.
What it gets you is a short walk into the desert (hell, it’s ALL desert over there!) and a point blank bullet to the brain!
Sorta like what the libs have planned for millions of us HERE!!!
