Lapid: Israel-US relations in 'crisis' After Ynet learns White House officials prevented defense minister from meeting Kerry and Biden, Lapid says 'We need to act with more respect. We must remember that US funds and technology helped Gaza operation.'

"There is a crisis with the Americans and it needs to be addressed as a crisis," Finance Minister Yair Lapid said Saturday after ongoing tensions between Washington and Jerusalem led US officials to block Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon from meeting with senior administration officials during his current US visit.

Sorry Israel, I didn't want a radical Muslim as President but evidently Democrats had other ideas.

Obola would love to figure out a way to break off financial and diplomatic relations with Israel. So would his Muslim brothers.

Russian President Putin dressed down America at Valdai for acting like a bully around other countries and said no country is going to subordinate itself to doing whatever American wants.

He had a point and the Obama Administration’s spiteful treatment of Israel’s Ya’alon drove it home. This is not how one treats a friend much less than an enemy.

All the contempt Obama can muster for Israel won’t change minds there and it won’t weaken the Israeli government. There is a book to read on how make friends and influence people.

Too bad no one in Washington has it on their reading list.

Needs an edit:

Sorry Israel, I didn't want a radical Muslim as President but evidently American Jews had other ideas.

No sympathy from me as long as they keep voting for leftist democrats.

That’s an excellent point, and needs to be repeated.

US Jews have had Dems’ and Obama’s back all through it. It’s a dynamic that baffles me, and baffles a Jewish friend of mine living in Newton, MA, belly of the beast.

Are there any Jewish Freepers who can explain this phenomenon other than just saying ‘Well Jews are intellectually liberal?’

Does ‘never forget’ mean anything to them?

Nope. Makes no sense whatsoever. And I have siblings that I've had heated political arguments with.

With a Muzzie occupying the White Mosque is it any wonder? And the U.S.A. Will suffer for it by God’s punishment.

Most of the huge immigrant groups who arrived in the 1880s to 1920s remain Democrats if they remain in urban areas.

People of German descent don’t vote on the basis of American foreign policy toward Germany. Jews and Israel aren’t different in that regard.

This shouldn't surprise anybody who's paying attention.Obola has never tried to hide his contempt for “typical white people”,”bitter clingers” or Israel.

A lot of misplaced loyalties due to the belief that Democrats helped them...when actually it was a selfish act for votes.

There was no welfare state during that great immigration. At that time, America’s wealthy, nouveau and blueblood, were Republicans and Jew-haters, something not easily forgotten.

Catholic haters too, BTW.

Yes and look at later generations where all of those worked together in harmony for decades. We have had an Administration that has set back racial relations 50 years, as well as, international relations, created hatred among political parties, nations, religions, and with allies like Israel.

Hmm. American Jews are a tiny minority. One could take comments like this in a similar way that people blame “Jewish bankers” etc. for this or that.

The FACT is, Israeli Jews are OVERWHELMINGLY opposed to Obama - and many of them vote in U.S. elections.

I wonder if you blamed English-Americans for Clinton.

After making a poorly thought out post about Jews, I was informed by one Observant Jewish Freeper that what I called liberal Jews were really “Secular liberals of Jewish descent”. In other words, they were ethnically Jewish, but not observant of the faith.

A coworker fit into that category, she called herself a “Bacon loving Jew”. She’s a uber lib, hates Israel, and is a communist.

“Does ‘never forget’ mean anything to them?”

I will try to explain what I believe to be true as to this phenomenon as briefly as I can.

Yes, “never forget” means much. But that which is never forgotten is...what? Facts? Conclusions based upon historical examination? Lore? “True tales made up from the legendary past?”

What most liberal Jews never forget is the idea that for many years, Jews were excluded from many aspects of American society. (I am explaining, not justifying, but it is a true truth) My Dad graduated Summa Cum Laude in Chemistry from the U of Michigan in 1937 and had a terrible time getting work as a chemist until the war effort exploded demand, circa 1940.

Jews remember that they were frequently barred from entry to country clubs even into the 60’s even after they had attained the requisite wealth. Perhaps this is the genesis of the term “Country Club republicans”. They thus have this belief that even though they had in many cases (certainly not all) succeeded in the capitalist world their parents had emigrated to (most probably the greatest numbers of American Jews can trace their roots to emigrees from Russia circa 1890-1920-—that’s anecdote, not researched-fact) they were still excluded from “the elite” and thus sort of retained their identification with “the oppressed”. They thus for many years (and still do) very strongly associated with “the Black struggle” despite the fact that most Blacks seriously dislike Jews and Jews have been given hundreds of examples of same. In other words, the sentiment is absolutely not returned.

Many liberal Jews “remember” (and I put that word in quotes because they are not remembering from their own experience, they are remembering stuff that was told them as children) the union movements of the 30’s which (per the lore) sought to improve labor conditions and wages, particularly in the case of garment workers in NYC, of which many were freshly-emigrated Jews.

And that’s the crux of this issue. Most liberal Jews associate with early unionization and assume common cause with so-called “oppressed” Blacks and the shunning of Jews that went on for many years in industry and politics. That these sentiments are deluded or obsolete or the things that Jews “affinitize” with are things that have morphed far, far away from where those things were 60-80-100 years ago is apparently irrelevant. This leads to this inexplicable and incomprehensible phenomenon where Jews empathize with Palestinians who would unthinkably kill them, unions (which were corrupt then and are massively more corrupt now) and even Russia which also persecuted them. Oh yes, they of course remember the Holocaust and many will not consider buying German goods nor cars even today but they DO NOT SEE the same upwelling of anti-Jewish forces across Europe and even in the Arab world where they are simply death targets.

They remember *too* well. They remember so damned well that they cannot see what is going on today.

“Does ‘never forget’ mean anything to them?”

Same can be said about the USA, Seems that every one has forgotten about all the lives sacrificed for our country and others we have defended. The greatest generation is getting destroyed by the government created I don’t give a SHlT generation.

Personally the only hope I think we have is an all out war to take this country back!

I have had it and god forbid that they give me a certain amount of time to live because I guarantee you I will take the fight to the next level. I am not afraid to die now let alone be given a death sentence from some disease, ebola, cancer, or 0boma!

I have been called a negative democratic underground operative recently because I will not except the headlines that the republicans are kicking @ss in the polls!

Hell my spelling and grammar have been questioned. Maybe some of you key board worriers should get off your @sses and start doing something besides telling every one here that your ready for when SHTF.

I email my congressmen and congresswomen and I send editorials to my liberal paper to no avail but I try really hard to make a difference.

I have been reading here for over 10 years no matter what it says in my profile. Tell me to shut up and I will be gone and wish you all well.

Thank you very much for the thoughtfulness. Yeah - I can see that - the identification with the ‘oppressed’ would lead to confusion given the propaganda out of the Middle East. ‘Republicans’ as ‘Elites’ who spurned them would lead to disdaining them, and, by implication, their stances. And, memory of the facts as they took place in the material world ... but no memory of the invisible forces that only took shape as this or that country (Germany/Russia) ... but were just manifestations of the same old delusion that’s made mankind a nuisance and threat to his brothers since the beginning of time.

So focused on the events, missing the forces that pushed the events.

I hope that’s not too far off what you were getting at. Thanks for taking the time to answer in depth. I will re-read. Also ... I will send my original question and your response to my friend in MA. If he responds, I’ll post back to this thread to you so you get pinged.

HAH!

Yeah - that's the other half it I guess. You've got half the Christians in THIS country voting for Obama policies which encourage the murder of Christians by Muslims. But the average Christian in the US is a secular humanist born to parent who never themselves attended church, who intellectually appreciates the clever allegory in that celebrated runner up to Aesop's fables: The Bible.
