My Report of Live Police Conference of Ottawa Shooting
CNN | 10/23/14 | self

Posted on 10/23/2014 1:55:23 PM PDT by lulu16

They show footage taken from security cameras of the shooter getting out of his beige car near the war memorial. Pedestrians are seen approaching the car and then running away. Then you see the shooter with his long gun running out of the car.

The next shot is of building on Parliament Hill. (Sorry, I am not Canadian and do not know these places. But yesterday I wrote on FR, a Canadian reporter said these were office buildings, one of which was for the PM.) The shooter is running towards a row of cars park alongside the street. He choses the first car and goes to the driver side. The car backs up and little, and then the driver of the car is seen running out.

The next shot is a long shot of Center Block, the one where the Parliament meets. The car that was stolen is driving up. In hot pursuit there is a van/ bus with the back doors open. That is one of the law enforcement agencies cars and two or three other join in. These was immediate.

The shooter runs out of his car to the side entrance.

The police officer giving the conference then tells that one of the security officers is shot in the leg. The shooter shot at the other guard one but missed.

Conference is cut-away.

A reporter from CNN shows the Hall of Honors that the gunman traveled down. She shows the office of the sergeant of arms. Perpendicular to his office is broader hallway that ends at a room with an archway that leads to the door where the parliament had gathered. The gunman was hiding in that archway. There is a bullet hole near that room.

The sergeant at arms goes back into his office and gets his weapon. Then he crawls along the wall, sneaking up on the gunman and takes his shot, killing him.

I don't know if this was on Fox. I report from CNN so Freepers don't have to.

I could not find a video or transcript of this press conference that showed the security cameras, but if I do I will post it for you.

I meant to say that the owner of the car, left his car when the gunman commandeered it.

It was amazing to see that the police force give chase to the stolen car immediately. As I said yesterday, this was not like the Navy Shipyards, where they waited and staged an area blocks from where the gunman was wasting people.

Caught a bit of CNN this morning. The reporter began with his opinion that the muslim shooter interpeted islam wrongly. Turned the channel.

Yeah, I disregard that stuff. What I especially don’t like is when they refer to the shooter as “the gentleman...”

How can they not tell the difference between... “the gentleman”... and a “murderous, subhuman, blood-sopped, troglodyte-from hell”... is beyond me.

You are right, I think it is the political correctness that caused several reporters referred to him as “the gentleman,” because they are over-compensating.

In the pictures, of what we can see, he is not bad looking, and he has that long scarf across his nose and mouth. At Halloween time, he could be imitated, as a kind of masked anti-hero. I fear that the impressionable will turn his image into a poster boy, like they have done for Che Guevara, who got off killing his enemies in firing squads, but whose image is ubiquitous as rebel chic.

Thank-you. I like sharing what I can. I happen to catch it and wanted to pass it on before the spin set in.
