Supporting FRee Republic ~ October 2014
October 22, 2014 | Me

Posted on 10/22/2014 5:22:55 AM PDT by beachn4fun

Disclaimer: I am not a member of the "FR fundraising committee".

I just wanted to challenge my "RED" blooded Marylanders
to pony up to keep Free Republic going.
I noticed that Maryland is moving up in the total donations chart.
We are now #6 over VA @ #10, which is encouraging, BUT, CA is #2. WTH?
Are we more liberal than CA?
I know we're not as wealthy as most Californians, but
come on Marylanders, show your determination to make a change.
Give $1, $2, $5, or $10 to help Jim get the facts out.

Agree all.

Not sure where to post this, but here goes. I just installed the latest iOS update. On FR, you no longer get a NEW TAB or NEW WINDOW when you click on a thresd. (In PHP or HTML this would be like forgetting to select the Target="blank"Nehemiah you create a hyperlink) You can open the thread fine, but when you go back, it goes to the top of the forum page and you have to scroll down all the way through what you've already read to get to the next thread to read. Is there a fix for this problem?

Is there a fix for this problem?

Unfortunately I am not sure what you are asking. Are you using iPhone? Maybe it's the browser you are using? I've noticed that Chrome doesn't open a new tab when I click a link. I haven't been able to figure how to change that yet. Hopefully, someone who wanders into this thread will know the answer.

Time for my quarterly complaint.

I donate but I bitch about it, because, if in fact FR has several hundred thousand lurkers, {as has been claimed many times through the years} then a simple $10 per year fee, or 2.7 cents per day, would generate way more that the 3-4 hundred K per year than these quarterly beg-a-thons do.

FR talks about conservative values but runs it's business like the demonRATs do, take from the makers and let the free riders tag along for nothing.

If anyone can't afford $10 a year, have them email me, make their case, and if successful, I will pay for them.

I just don't believe that anyone that owns a computer, pays for an internet service, can't scrape up 2.7 cents a day.

You can find that in every parking lot at any box store, every day.

I donate and that gives me the right to bitch about this liberal beg-a-thon and lobby for a "Hope & Some Change".

You have a point. I hope you’ve shared this with the Founder and fundraising committee.

However, I suspect there are thousands who love to visit but don’t want to put out the funding to do so.

Sorry...I’m seeing it in my iPad. As you said, it doesn’t open a new window. So you cannot just go back to where you were on the latest articles tab, in the old window. When you hit the go back arrow, it goes back, but to the top of the page. So you have to scroll back down through what you’ve read each time you go back.

Try not to abuse the privilege; but you can sometimes address tech issues with this site to John Robinson, the developer. First, I would go to your FR preferences page and make sure your new system has picked up your preferences, like tabs openings and so on.
