Ah yes...that was the model name of my M&M (mold & mildew) Maytag. See story above...
My mom has had exactly two washing machines. Both Maytags. One was a 1970s version, and the only thing that happened to it was that the gear on the selector dial finally gave out (the dealer said it was a $20 replacement part). Mom decided at that point that she wanted a new matching set (the dryer was a different brand and color - hey, you did what you had to when you were young, right?). So, she bought the new set in 1994. To this day, I don't think she's ever had an issue with either the washer or the dryer.
My daughter in law’s dad is a small businessman with an appliance store. He recommended a brand made by Whirlpool because you can get repair parts easily. We have GE for same reason since my husband is a handy man and GE puts their parts diagrams online which helps him choose what to order online from the best source. I am not sure but daughter maybe bought Amana.
