I’m at a loss how FSU is ranked #5. Sure, they’ve been falling behind across all stats, but they’ve clawed back in 4th quarter triumphs like I’ve never seen.
FSU is still ranked #2 in AP, ESPN, and the ESPN power rankings. They may be ragtag compared to last year’s dominant powerhouse, but they’re still winning games.
It’s just BS SEC propaganda. The whole ranking system is based on the flawed assumption at the beginning of the year that South Carolina and Texas A&M were very good teams. Every “SEC West domination” story has emanated from those two mistaken rankings.
My theory is that Fisher wasn’t happy with all of the blowouts last year and was concerned that he might be developing the kind of reputation that would be unkind to him in years to come...I think that FSU has intentionally come out in the first half attempting to play conservatively and feature other facets of the game besides the pass.
Come second half, Fisher has turned Winston loose and FSU has stormed back and overcome whatever deficit that the team has faced...There isn’t a defense in the country that can contain Winston when he wants to move down the field. He is probably the best pure passer since...drum roll please...a guy named Joe Willie, I think he played at a place called, ‘Bama or something like that...
