I agree there is a groundswell of discontent out there. If conservatives can tap into it, we stand a good chance of convening an Article V.

There is much low hanging fruit for a well spoken conservative to grasp.

My fear for 2015-2016 is a Ted Cruz who does just that, someone who eloquently taps into discontent and turns it into personal loyalty.

Should conservatism end up wrapped in the person of a savior, our republic is doomed.

For me, the bright side is that Cruz is a true constitutional scholar who understands what needs to be done. If I am right, he will conduct himself more as a George Washington, who could have seized the reins of power yet refused to do so.

My hope is that candidate or President Cruz leads the charge for an Article V convention of the States. It must be done, and I believe Cruz knows it.

I don’t think Cruz alone can do this. He needs support from at least a few of the other “conservative” luminaries. It could very well be this issue that eventually splits the GOP for good between those who favor a return to our constitutional republic and those who favor a slow death by disguised liberalism.

"an educational effort needs to be made that counters the ‘Runaway Convention’ hysteria that is pushed by republicans"
Absolutely -- and this need is visible right here on FR. The same 5 or 6 objections are answered again and again. There are some GBS'ers in my own Tea Party group who believe that wishing things were different is all we need to do!

Hi guys... we’re getting ready here in Arizona to take another run at passing an A5 bill in the upcoming legislative session. We got it through the house last year, but it died in the senate... the president is a fear-mongering Bircher.

Anyway, I’d like to keep everyone posted on events as they unfold here, and I’d also like to stay abreast of A5 discussions here on FR. Is there a box I can check somewhere to be advised by eMail when posts are made, either by subject matter or in response to posts that I follow?

I know that some blogs have such a feature, but I’ve not been able to find one like that here. I know this is an old-school board, but I’m just wondering if maybe I’ve missed something somewhere along the way.

By the way, I couldn’t agree more with Publius’ assertion that education is key. We already have everything else - the discontent is there, the numbers of “Constitutional Conservatives” are there, the solution is there, and the grass roots efforts are gearing up in just about every state, right down to the precinct level.

The problem is with the non-stop disinformation campaign by the Birchers. The ONLY thing that will counter that is education. Like others here, I am drafting an essay as well, kind of a boilerplate response to the JBS. I’ll post it here as soon as it’s ready, probably as a vanity. But in the meantime, I’d still like to be kept up to speed on the discussions here, so if anyone knows anything about an eMail Notification, Preference, or Option that I can choose, I’d appreciate the info.

If not, I’ll check in when I can.

I think the best way to execute what you’re trying to do is by using keywords. We don’t have a uniform keyword for anything related to Article V, but maybe JimRob needs to establish one for us.

The closest thing you’ll find on FR are the Ping-lists. Once your on a list, just log in once a day or so.
