More babies than ever are surviving being born at 23 weeks, a stage in pregnancy when they are not considered viable, and could even legally be aborted.
While hospitals are only obliged to intervene and revive babies born after 24 weeks of pregnancy also the current abortion limit to the joy of many parents, increasing numbers of medics are saving the lives of those who arrive sooner.
Research conducted in 2006 suggested that just 19 per cent of babies born at 23 weeks survived. Yet in a study sure to reignite the ongoing debate about lowering the abortion limit, new data from 25 British hospitals shows that many neonatal units have dramatically improved survival rates.
Although there was no difference in the levels of ongoing illness or complications, some units were even able to boast that the majority of 23-weekers are surviving.

My sister had twins @23 weeks.
They not only survived, but they are perfectly normal in every way.
I almost throw up when I consider babies more developed than them are aborted regularly.
