I expect they will, just because things are so dark and dismal right now, with all these Obama-inflicted nightmares. That will probably be enough to propel the GOP over the edge. Yet, locally, I don’t at all see anything like the enthusiasm that was present in 2010 following all the tea-party activity. There’s no fervor, no ring of optimism. Everybody just seems beat down. I don’t think ANYONE has any expectations that the GOP, if they win, will necessarily turn anything around.

It’s the bleakest I’ve ever seen things, with a real undercurrent of disquiet and unease. This is far different, far worse, and far more unsettling than what I recall of the latter Carter years.

At the end of the Carter years, we had Reagan to look forward to. There was real confidence that he would lead the country back onto the right track.

The difference now is that there is no confidence in the Republican party's ability (or even desire) to lead.
