Kurds thwart Islamic State IS in Syria's Kobani town

MURSITPINAR, Turkey's Kurdish region,— Islamic State jihadists met dogged Kurdish resistance in the high-profile Syrian battleground Kurdish town of Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan Sunday.

In Kobani, where IS is battling Kurdish fighters under the gaze of the international media massed just across the border with Turkey, the jihadists were taking heavy losses, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

On Saturday alone, the jihadists lost at least 36 fighters in the battle with Kurdish militiamen for the Kurdish town, said the Britain-based monitoring group, which has a wide network of sources inside Syria.

...

"It's a decisive battle for them," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

"If they don't pull it off, it will damage their image among jihadists around the world."

Abdel Rahman said IS was pouring in reinforcements from other areas it controls in Syria, after its Friday capture of the Kurdish command headquarterswww.Ekurd.net in Kobani failed to deliver a decisive blow.

"They are sending fighters without much combat experience," he said.

"They are attacking on multiple fronts but they keep being repulsed, then countering and being pushed back again."

Fighting with very little except spirit, the Kurds are the only group worth helping over there….and naturally, we aren’t giving them anything. What a shame.

The world will long remember the heroism of the Kurds. Nor will it forget the duplicity of the Turks or the incompetence of Obama. Obama after he solemnly declared he was going to annihilate ISIS allowed the barbaric jihadists to achieve a psychological and important victory at Kabane. Obama not only foolishly ignored the advice of his generals bur was unable to convince “NATO” member Turkey to take definitive action on their border.

"They are sending fighters without much combat experience,"

I wonder if ISIS is spreading itself to thin...

There was an earlier post in FR’s that some muky muck in the clergical ISIS high command claimed they would bury Russia. Putin might just send help and look like a chumpion. For the record, and why I’m posting this is; I think he will.

The Kurds are like those who fought at the Alamo...no help coming, fighting for their homes, and fighting against overwhelming odds. I wish them success but even the strongest critter can be overcome by an encirclement of wolves.

Seems to me like that would be the time to hit them,
on the Bagdhadi Trail.

But then what do I know about something like that. /s

The only creditable resistance IS ever received is from the Kurds. The Kurds have their Alamo and the rest of the world just watched.

It was not in the Strategic interest of Mullah Obama to save it.

While the world watches the bravery of the Kurdish people, no one bothers to even so much as help arm and equip them. God help the Kurds, as the literall fight for their lives.

Kurds just want their own country. In 1920 they were promised it. In 1923 the Treaty at Lausanne took it away from them. Here the Kurds whom are Sunni Muslims are fighting against another branch of Sunni Muslims. Looks like more of the same++ - be careful if Russia comes in on the side of the Kurds, - they want a foothold in the Middle East. The Kurds will not have an independent state, but will become yet another vassal state of Russia. Looks like the final battle is getting closer - the players ar getting in place for the final battle at the Plains of Megiddo. Ebola is play in Africa and spreading around the world, and the Middle East - the seat of human civilization is beginning to be more chaotic

No one over there needs our help. The people of these lands have been fighting each other for over 600 years ... way before there was a such a thing as the USA

They’ll continue to do so with or without ‘help’ for another 600 years.

Taking sides in their continual tribal conflicts has not ‘helped’ anyone over there and has definitely not helped us.

We don’t need to be over there fighting their battles for them or even ‘helping’.

This has been a loser for us for over 60 years.

Obama may be incompetent but that incompetence is irrelevant on this occasion. Things are working out just as he desires in the ME. Remember he was the promoter of the Moslem Brotherhood in Egypt and Lybia. He was thwarted in Egyptby the Army. He is being hindered in Kobani by the Kurds. He will not forgive the Kurds if Kobani proves to be the turning point against the Caliphate.

The Kurds in Kobani also know that if they are overrun there will be no quarter given. Survivors will be sacrificed to the Moon God.

The Sultan in Washington’s strategic interest is best served by the attainment of objectives by ISIS as ISIL.

We need to prevent one group from dominating. Even that is not terribly useful so long as we do not expel the Moslems living among us.
