It was obviously the flag that actually flew at the Capitol on 9/11...donated by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert. According to the article: "Other losses include a handful of personal items of the Flight 93 passengers and crew. The items were either recovered from the crash site or provided by family members to represent their loved ones."

So more than just the flag was lost.

I hadn’t read the article, just wondered because of how many flags are “flown over the Capitol” on any given day. Now, having read the article,I’m just plain confused.

The flag that flew over the Capitol that was to be displayed at thre Flt 93 Memorial was “soot-smudged” from fire damage at the Pentagon? What? How does that make sense?

The Capitol is several miles from the Pentagon, and why would a flag flying over the Capitol that wasn’t attacked have damage from the Pentagon that was attacked? Some info definitely confused in this article.
