Split Would Separate PC, Printer Operation From Corporate Hardware and Other Units
Hewlett-Packard Co. HPQ +2.00% plans to break in two, separating its personal-computer and printer businesses from its corporate hardware and services operations, according to people familiar with the matter.

Well, my printer broke in two, so why not?
So did my laptop.
So then we return half of the broken item to each company!
Years ago, when their printer division was the only one making money, I wished they would do this. Now I think their printers are sort of 2nd tier junk. But hopefully this will help them get back on track.
Glad they sold off their test equipment division (Agilent/Keysight) long ago, or that wouldnhave been ruined too.
Bill and Dave would not be pleased.
All their hard work undone in a liberal a$$ sucking nation.
Used to work at HP and met them both - great men with great foresight and vision....
So, does that mean there will be a Hewlett Corp. and a Packard Corp?
Will both companies be run by incompetent women?
Who gets stuck with Meg Whitman?
Didn’t see your post! Ha.
Seriously, it’ll probably be Hewlett-Packard for the corp stuff and Compaq for the PC and printer crap (and I do mean crap).
They should acquire a competitor that has absolutely zero accretive value and see what the stock holders say this time around.
Much like appliances, everything these days is a pile of poop.
We have an old HP Laser Jet from ‘94 that is still running like a champ. Thousands of pages printed. Even used it on a production line for a few months. Installed a parallel port to Ethernet converter.
We have junked several generations of Cannon printers, a couple of Lexmarks, a three HP inkjets.
Give away the printers, sell the ink.
I find my Lexmark 250D runs as well as it did when I first bought it. I don’t intend to replace it until I can’t find any more toner.
If the lawyers are involved it will be a Hewlard Corporation and a Paclett Corporation.
We decided to try Lexmark because of all the problems with Cannon and HP. Have a Lexmark Prevail that needs a new head that I already replaced once for $85. The feeder wheel is loose too and the printer tended to jam (before the head failed).
Have you tried refurbished cartridges? I haven't had a lot of good luck with them but that may be an option for you.
