A study has claimed that religious Jewish teens exhibit less suicide-risk behaviour than their secular Jewish peers.
The research suggests that observing Judaism helps to protect adolescents against suicide - despite still being depressed.
The conclusion was drawn by surveying hundreds of adolescents and their mothers in Israel.
The study by the Israeli Health Ministry was published in the journal European Psychiatry.
Home interviews of 620 Jewish adolescents aged 14 to 17 and their mothers were carried out in the survey.
It assessed sociodemographic characteristics and mental health, including suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
Participants were asked to define their degree of religiosity as 'secular,' 'observant,' or 'ultra-Orthodox,' the three main categories of Judaism in Israel.
And the results showed that religious Jewish teenagers exhibit 45 per cent less suicide-risk behavior, including attempted suicide, than their secular Jewish peers.

This is a captain obvious alert for people of faith.
That people who have no faith are constantly surprised that folks who are married and follow Judeo-Christian religions have less suicide, mental illness, etc, etc, is so astounding to me.
The other surprising thing to me is that they believe their own propaganda on what we believe - for instance - if you go to leftist websites, you will constantly see them repeat the lie over and over again that the bible supports slavery and polygamy, when it clearly is strongly against it. They actually believe this. They are very confused.
Willingly blind is more like it.
They won't let their belief system be confused by facts.
