Instead of sitting in front of your computer, which you already do, for more than 30 minutes, as I do, dear reader, why not go to your library, and look through current and archived copies of Writer’s Digest and The Writer magazines.
Yes, you COULD go to the magazine websites. Yes, you COULD pay for a subscription. You COULD go to a bookstore, grab an issue of both, get a cup of something, and take real notes!
The writer was the first publication, for writers, and by writers. Writers’ Digest came along later, and more the nuts and bolts of the writing world. Figure these as ‘column A and column b’ from the familiar menu, and they do dovetail, quite niceely.
I used both of these magazines, as a beginning study of the writing world, although I had already been writing for 15 years, before that. The school located in Connecticut was a major primo decision for me.
Have fun, write what you read most, and always make questions for your characters to answer!
