Poll: Nearly 25% of Americans Would Consider Secession

Nearly 25% of Americans, largely fueled by their anger toward the permanent political class in Washington, D.C., would consider secession.

According to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released a day after voters in Scotland rejected an "independence referendum" by nearly 10 points, "23.9 percent of Americans polled from Aug. 23 through Sept. 16 said they strongly supported or tended to support the idea of their state breaking away, while 53.3 percent of the 8,952 respondents strongly opposed or tended to oppose the notion."

The poll found that the "urge to sever ties with Washington cuts across party lines and regions," and anger with President Barack Obama on Obamacare and foreign policy and a "long-running Washington gridlock had prompted them to wonder if their states would be better off striking out on their own."

Gonna happen eventually. America cannot survive united when a full 50% or more hate everything it stood for at the founding.

For myself, stuck in Mexifornia for now, I wouldn’t want it to secede and be stuck in this liberal hellhole. Now, once I get to better conservative pastures, absolutely!

We’re a nation who’s been on the verge of divorce for 15 years. If we were divided on more solid geographical lines, it would already be happening.

With the economy pushing people in different directions, we might just get there, yet.

Conservatives need to congregate now in a few states, ie. TX, plains, Midwest. Once a few states start to show independent action from a tyrannical federal government, others will follow.
The trigger could be martial law as a result of a terror attack, economic collapse, epidemic, natural disaster or some combination of the above.
Freedom is always a powerful magnet.

Oh I agree. But they won’t be given a choice. I fully expect CW2 at some point. Probably in the near future. Because their side will descend into chaos before long. Already the gibdsmedats are all calling their respective markers in and the Dems will not be able to satisfy their urges. Remember, many of them are feral and Barry just showed them all what the Dem word is worth with the Mexicans. they will go Furgeson coast to coast regardless of skin tone.

I don’t fear it anymore. It has to happen.

When in a Republic, the Federal Government continues to take control and the Supreme Court continues to okay same.. what do you expect to happen? The country has not lived up to the Constitution so far and actually continues to destroy it in little ways. What do we do?

When it does become more than can be tolerated (thankfully, the Constitution is simple reading for most folks), things will change whether the governing bodies like it or not! These changes are happening fast for our time...so expect fast reaction eventually...

The great experiment had problems as early as Shay's Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion, so it isn't as if people in the past haven't been fed up enough to want "out" because of manipulation by really big fish that own the souls of politicians.

The other thing that hasn't really changed is that FedGov will absolutely destroy anything and anyone to preserve its prerogatives, whether it is Alexander Hamilton making sure the right speculators make more money or Eric Holder making sure that whitey gets his comeuppance. The Civil War demonstrated that the powers that be at any given time will - in much later and possibly apocryphal terms - "destroy the village to save it."

The older I get, the more fragile the whole thing appears to have been.
